Allotment Application for New Members

Plot fees
Full plot: £40/year. Approx. 200m².
Half plot: £20/year. Approx. 100m².
Quarter plot: £10/year. Approx. 50m².
Shed rental: £8/year.

Subscription fees
This is required for all our members and includes affiliation to the National Allotment Society. Currently £3/year.

Plot deposit
You must provide a deposit of £20 when you first take on a plot. This will be returned to you when you leave, unless you leave the plot in a state that is not in accordance with the site rules. View the latest Tenancy Agreement Conditions and Bye-laws here.

How to Pay
Online direct to the Society’s bank account Sort code 40-16-07 Account number 91167707 or via card machine in the shop.

Here is a link to Nuffield Road Allotment Society site rules you need to adhere to, some most important info below:

  • Rent payment by 1 October each year

  • Bonfires are discouraged but allowed after 3.00pm between October and March (inclusive).

  • You may not carry on trade or business from your allotment

  • The maximum area for non-cultivable land is 25%

  • You may use the allotment between 5am and 11pm only. No vehicles to be left on site overnight.

  • Within 3 months of the grant of the tenancy, you must have at least a quarter of your allotment under cultivation. Please start from the borders as the weeds are affecting the neighbors.

  • Within 12 months of the grant of the tenancy, you must have at least three quarters (75%) of your allotment under cultivation. That situation must then continue while you are the tenant of the allotment.

  • Plot to remain weed free, paths to be maintained.

  • You must not plant a hedge/build fence on boundaries, shed, greenhouse, pond or polytunnel without our written permission.

  • No entering others' plots without permission nor taking any produce. Same other way, no one is allowed on your plot without your permission.

  • Any fruit tree must be restricted to 3m height by pruning once a year and cannot be obstructing the boundaries. Only dwarf trees can be planted without written consent and they cannot take more than 25% of the cultivation of a plot.

  • You are responsible for removing your own waste either non compostable or compostable.

  • No livestock is allowed

  • To control pests, diseases or vegetation you may only use products usually available from garden or horticultural suppliers. No agricultural or professional horticultural products may be used. Application of these products, in particular spraying, must not be detrimental to the cultivation of allotments nearby. You must take full account of drift, runoff, the weather conditions and the impact or annoyance it may cause nearby allotment holders.

  • Site gate must be locked at all times please.

  • Allotment Committee is trying to meet on a monthly/bimonthly basis so if there is anything you wish to flag send us an email and the query will be discussed at the next meeting.

  • We can set you up with a Kings Seeds Account so you will be able to purchase seeds with a discount - let me know if you need one. 

There is a WhatsApp community for allotment members. Let me know if you wish to be part of it. It is used to make announcements or sales etc, the message traffic is quite low so you wont get spammed. All important info is also sent via email or posted on our website.
